McDonald’s has announced that Holger Beeck will assume the position of President and
Managing Director, McDonald’s Germany and that Bane Knezevic will step down from his
current role as CEO McDonald’s Germany and President, Western Division - McDonald’s
Europe. The transition to Beeck will be completed by the end of November 2013.
Holger Beeck joined McDonald’s Germany as a Trainee Manager in 1984. He rose quickly through the organization holding various operations positions before becoming VP – Development. In 2008, he became Chief Operations Officer for Germany and was appointed COO and Managing Director earlier this year.
Beeck draws on nearly 30 years’ experience at McDonald’s in a range of different roles. In addition to his extensive knowledge of restaurant operations, he has led the development of new restaurants, helping ensure that McDonald’s remains the largest QSR restaurant chain in Germany. He has overseen the Company’s extensive reimaging program that creates a more modern and contemporary experience for customers and been responsible for the rollout of McCafé, now in 830 of McDonald’s restaurants in Germany.
Beeck has also been closely involved in important food innovation, such as the 1955, a premium beef sandwich developed in Germany and introduced into 19 countries in Europe, and other additions to the menu such as Nürnburger, based on a well-known local dish.

Knezevic has held the role of CEO of McDonald’s Germany and President, Western Division for over eight years, having originally joined McDonald’s as a trainee manager in 1988. He held a number of Managing Director positions, including Managing Director of McDonald’s Hungary, before becoming Chief Operations Officer of McDonald’s Europe. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer, Germany and President, Western Division in 2005.
Doug Goare added: “Bane has spearheaded many successful initiatives during his tenure of McDonald’s Germany, improving customer satisfaction and increasing revenues. We wish him well as he embarks on the next phase of his career.”
