It all began in 1971 when we opened our first European restaurant in the Netherlands.
Today, McDonald’s Europe has approximately 335,000 employees. Together with its franchisees it operates more than 6,600 restaurants in 39 countries serving 12 million customers a day.
Our Restaurants
In fact, McDonald’s Europe has become the second largest geography for McDonald’s Corporation via three clear brand strategies:
· Upgrading the customer and employee experience
· Enhancing local relevance
· Building brand transparency
To support these strategies, McDonald’s Europe has created a central Design Studio based in Paris, as well as the Food Studio in Munich. Both are vital to our continued success.
The Design Studio has introduced a range of restaurant designs now being rolled out across our European markets. As a result, a design revolution is taking place in McDonald’s restaurants throughout Europe – including the introduction of McCafés™. These 900 glossy and inviting units are part of our significant re-imaging programme and are a highly visible member of the McDonald’s European family.
The Food Studio in Munich is helping to constantly develop new and desirable products for the European community. The recently introduced M Burger™, for example, has swept across Europe with much fanfare and success. This premium sandwich is just one example of how the Food Studio is establishing McDonald’s Europe as a destination for quality food.
By focusing on our brand strategies, McDonald’s Europe now contributes over 40% to global profits and looks forward to continued success and growth as the region’s leading foodservice retailer.
